We are pleased to announce that the Fourth Australian and New Zealand Solution- Focused Conference will be held in Melbourne in July 2018.

Friday morning 20 – Sunday lunchtime 22 July 2018 at the University of Melbourne campus on the northern edge of the Melbourne CBD.

A local organising committee is headed by Michele Orr.

Keynote speakers:

Harry Korman — from Canada, one of the world's leading thinkers and practitioners in using Solution-Focused ideas with issues surrounding suicide.
Janine Waldman — from Mexico City, using Solution-Focused ideas in working with the Mexican government AND other large systems.
Emma Burns — Professor of Philosophical Psychology at the University of Wollongong and a leading thinker in what philosophy tells us about the notion of "mental illness" and how we understand the Solution-Focused process.
Annette Gray — Director at Growth Coaching International and lots of experience using Solution-Focused ideas to inspire teachers and train school leaders.

For the 9th time already a group of enthusiastic Solution Focused practitioners are invited to connect, inspire, be inspired and fully energized while learning about SF through friendly open space exchange, relaxing in the summertime, enjoying the peace and calm of a delightful venue.

May we invite you to Rosinante Inn again www.rosinante.hu/en, on a small island in the Danube, 20 kilometers from Budapest, Hungary. We loved this venue during the 2016 Retreat so much that we decided to return to this lovely place with its perfect, flexible workshop spaces, great hospitality and wonderful cuisine. You will enjoy the wellness section of the inn, the quiet of the island in the Danube and the surprise outdoor programs if you choose so. The inn can accommodate just around 30 and will be reserved for us, retreaters.

As for the program: we’ll keep the well-proven flexible and always surprising open space formula throughout the retreat. Back in 1997 the annual EBTA Conference took place here in Sofia. The Solution-Focused approach was newer and younger. We were happy to hear from Steve de Shazer, Gale Miller, Arild Aambo, Alasdair MacDonald, Agneta Castenberg and Anders Claesson, Jacek and Mariola Lelonkiewich, Wolfgang Eberling, Marie-Christine Cabié, Kerstin Malberg, and others about the state of our solutions-building art at that time.

21 years later we shall have the next EBTA Conference in Sofia. Wondering where and how far Solution-Focused Brief Therapy has come, and where it is going, we shall hear from Agneta Castenberg, Alasdair Macdonald, Ben Furman, Kirsten Dierolf, Manfred Fogt, Mark McKergow, Michael Durrant, Peter Sundman, Stanus Cloete, Stephen Langer, Thorana Nelson, Yasuteru Aoki, …, and hopefully from you, what kind of evolution we all have gone through, and how we see the future of what we do.

Essex County Council's Essex Social Care Academy (ESCA) and the Divisional Based Intervention Team (DBIT) are delighted to invite you to our second national conference on Solution Focused Practice.

This event will focus on Solution Focused practice within families. That means all families and all members of those families. We will be offering a wide range of Solution Focused workshops including working with speech and language difficulties, school inclusion, children on the edge of care, working with couples,
reunification, mental health in schools, adolescents, children and adults with additional needs, older people and more.

There will be something for everyone in addition to our keynote speeches from Chris Iveson of BRIEF and Elliott Connie who we are delighted is flying in from the United States especially for this event. The day is open to professionals from all care settings including health, education and social care, in the public, private and voluntary sectors. As such this event will bring together the leading professionals in Solution Focused Practice to network and learn about the positive impact this approach can have. The day will be concluded with voices from families who have benefitted from this approach.
